I have an application similar to an on screen keyboard but there's some functionality it's lacking - the ability to write to external software.
For example, how could I get the application to write straight to a Microsoft word window or notepad window. Preferably write to the notepad window, not just create the file.

You would probably need to use a number of Win32 API's to achieve this, such as PostMessage. This would require that you knew the handle of the window you wanted to post data too which can be done using FindWindow.
