Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here we go. Basically I would like to get back into building websites, but I have no idea which dev tools to use. I haven't built a website for about 5 years ago and then I was using Microsoft front page (mostly because it came with my computer). I'm not sure if this was any good but I got on with it fine. Basically, I would like some advice on where to start and what programs to buy (or better, download for free). I know some HTML and my …

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I've built a number of websites but have just now been asked to provide a password protected page that allows different customers FTP access to download files. I feel dumb. Having never done anything like this before. Obviously I have to get an ftp account from the hosting provider (not me) but it would be great if someone could outline the dummies version (for me) for setting something like this up. I'm having some trouble finding a place to put this question, since I don't have any insight in coding. Please let me know if the thread is misplaced, and I'll move it. Question: I have an idea of an app for iPhone/any smart phone and before I move on with the idea I need to know if the following is even doable. You'll have to take a picture of text (on paper) with the phone's camera and the app will have to interpret the text and "know" what letters/words are used. It that far off, or is it possible to …

SourceLabs is like the L. Ron Hubbard for the software community; it makes a living on developers in need of self-help. The company today added Eclipse projects to Self-Support Suite, its support tool and service for Java and Linux developers. The suite now counts the copious creations of the open source Eclipse community to its own extensive listing of supported Java projects, which includes the many libraries of Apache Axis, Struts and Tomcat, Hibernate and the Spring Framework. Covered Linux projects include CUPS, DHCP, gcc, ext2/ext3 file systems and ext2 utils, the Linux kernel, MySQL, OpenLDAP, …
