I have an

I like the tactile feel of paper books a lot but my eye sight is so bad if I want to read without my glasses on I have to hold it really close to by face which gets tiring with thick books so I loved the
ereader
as soon as I got it. Plus e-readers are so much easier to move and take on planes.

Hello. If your Kindle or other

doesn't support pdf files, you should take a chance and try this free conversion toolkit (kitpdf.com). It can easily convert pdfs to mobi format for a better reading experience.

I found no one and no document that says you can send to device. Here's some text from a seller of the Kobo on Amazon: > Kobo uses its own store, so it won't take amazon purchases. Furthermore, Kobo also uses a different propietary ebook format and DRM, different to the kindle propietary format. If you're using Kobo, you can either use Kobo's …

It seems there is no Linux version of the Desktop app. And Calibre should work, it did for me once. I'm just not sure how to make it able to upload files to the device. And I seem to remember that the Kobo Desktop app is not so decent.

You mention Linux in a reply and not at the top. I must be reading the wrong web page on the Kobo. Is there a Linux app?

That's because I'm the man of klunky stuff. I'm running Windows 10 now. Kobo Desktop works in there. That doesn't mean I can upload the files now. But I'll find it all out by myself. FYI: I'm running Windows 10 in VirtualBox. Can't see the USB-ports. But I should be able to manage that. That's it for now

Ahh, Virtual Box and getting at the USB ports can be annoying. At the moment I don't have that setup so I can't write anything about that area except it was a few trips to the settings for that VM.

Two things: First, readers and students have vastly different methods of accessing content. Readers chew through it from upper left to lower right, rarely back-tracking or caring where are within the structure of the book. It's all about the story. News readers are even less focused: they're all about the article. Students, however, range all …

As a senior in High School who has organization problems I would love to have one small machine that I could use for all my books. My backpack weighs more than I do (exaggeration ;)) . Well, I'm hoping the devices get cheap enough that replacing them isn't a huge issue and that it includes automatic backup in the cloud, so you can access your content anywhere such as a home computer. I think the issue about carrying heavy back packs is a serious one. I have two teens and I can't believe what they carry around. Thanks for taking …

@tsmyther You miss the point entirely here. If students were willing to consume textbooks on laptops, there would be no need for the e-reader. The problem with the laptop, and presumably with the upcoming Apple tablet will be the screen. It is simply not comfortable to read for long periods of time on a backlit screen. This is why we need a …

Trust me when I say no one is more excited about the coming tablets than I am but ebook readers are not going anywhere and here's why: 1. Ebook readers will soon average in the $200-$250 range about 1/4 the price of what tablets are about to price at. 2. Tablets will not use e-ink technology and reading books on a backlit device is not the same …

I think that both reader and apple tablet will parallel exit. It is similar to the case of desktop and laptop. People may hold both reader and mobile (iPhone) to read ebooks. They use the comfortable device to read at different timing and different occasion.

Quote: "If you think about it, we began to solve the problem of carrying multiple devices with the iPhone." Not really. If you know about it, you realize that the convergence of devices started with Handspring and Palm in the 1990s. Let's give the iPhone the credit that it is due: It is an amazingly user-friendly, hand-held …
