So I'm having a huge brain fart here and I know for a fact I am going about this the wrong way. Unfortunately, I can't refer to previous work I've done where I have done this correctly as I no longer have access to them. I have my index page grabbing information from different PHP pages then displaying them on screen. The reason why it's grabbing them from different PHP pages is because some times, these scripts will fail. If this was all in the same page, it would cause the whole page to fail so I want to call …

I found out that the issue comes out from this part of the style.css: .box …

Let's assume you would have to design a 500 ml (about 1.1 pint) food/beverage container like a can and use the least amount of material. Here is a Python program that explains the steps to achieve this.

Hi All, I have a problem with my web page. I'm floating some content to the left so the image below can move up to the right. The content and image are contained in a div with a height set to 100%. When I remove the height or decrease it, the image moves down the page to where it began. Either way, the gap where the image started never decreases. I'm aiming for it to just go away so that the content reachers the footer. This occurs more noticably in the smaller width view using the media query. I assume …

I have a 31,000 line spreadsheet, that will become a printed book. Based on the current column width (which has to stay the same for printing purposes) there are many lines that are only one line of text, and others that wrap to multiple lines. For some reason, for lines that are only one line (no wrapping needed) excel creates slightly larger padding below the text (even after auto fit), which creates a strange visual break (as if it's a new paragraph) and also makes the document longer than it needs to be because of the extra spacing. I'd like …

I have a simple imagebutton in Visual Studio 2010 / c# / .NET framework 4.0: asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton1" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/mypic.jpg" Width="400px" IE10 / Windows 8 shows the picture in the original size (width 200 px) and ignores the specified width (400 px). All other browsers behave as expected, but IE 10 doesn't. I tried resizing an simple image (not being a button) asp:Image; that works fine in IE 10. Can anybody help me to solve this problem? Basically I am creating a web page that is going to eventually load content dynamically using PHP. Right now I am constructing the HTML/CSS for the page so that the design is complete. My problem is that when I add x amount of content to my page, the content simply overflows out of the element, across the top of my footer and down the page. What I want is for the content area to resize automatically keeping my footer at the bottom so that all the content is displayed correctly. Below is a copy of my current web page. thankyou …

I have a requirement to make the height of a sidebar grow relative to the height of the main window. I currently have a sidebar that is sized to its content, but the main window is always much longer. Is it possible to (a) determine the height of the main windows (ID="leftside") and (b) make the height of the sidebar (ID="rightside") = leftside.height - 10 ?

Hi all a div located below the top div is positioning itself roughly 200px higher than expected. The top div is filling the browser window as it should be; but the bottom div is overlapping the top div. I hope this makes sense :S The properties set for the top div are as follows: div.top { height:100%; width:100%; min-height:400px; min-width:800px; } and the bottom div: div.sec { position:relative; width:100%; height:100%; min-width:800px; min-height:400px; background-attachment:fixed; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:center center; } and they are simply written in the body of the html as: <body> <div class="top"></div> <div class="sec"></div> </body> Please see attached image below …

I'm quite new to Javascript but thought that I should challenge myself to use it to solve an old problem of mine. I'm trying to set the height of a div to the same as the width of it. Example: The width is set to 50% and the screen is 1000px wide, the element will be 500px wide. I want the height to be the same; 500px. I tried to achieve this using this Javascript code: var layer=document.getElementById('layer'); var layer_width=layer.width(); layer.style.height=layer_width; The width of 'layer' has been set to 50% in CSS. The height is unaffected however. What am I …

Hi! I am making a simple box and inner box. The outer box is white and the inner box is purple. The inner box width is static (95%, i understand this is not necessarily static, but in the context of the height you'll understand) but the height is set to auto to reflect the height of the content text. I'm using ListView control, with SmallIcons style in VB.NET. Icons are loaded fine, but when I start to scroll ListView down or up from scrollbar (clicking from arrows), rowheight drops to about half from normal in next 20-30 rows below/above upper/bottom row (depends from the scrolling position). After 1-2 seconds, ListView is "refreshed" and scrolling continues normally. When focus in on the ListView and I'm moving up/down with arrow keys or PageUp/PageDown, everything is normal. Any suggestions, what is happening? SmallIcons size is 16 * 16. Is it compulsory to set "Blank icon" with SmallIcon size to all rows, when …

Hello, I have this simple layout: http://www.jahosapstot.cat/test/test.html As you can see the vertical div ("col"), wich is set at height 100%, is longer than the viewport, making the scroll bar to appear. This does not happen if the horizontal div ("menu") does not exist (it adds the "menu" height to the viewport height, I guess). Is there a way to have the vertical div to expand to the bottom of the viewport only? So there is no vertical scroll?

Hi, I recently built a new html site and it looked great in FF, Chrome, Safari, and IE8. When I view the site in IE9, it expands vertically, leaving spaces between the images and generally destroying the page layout. I don't know if this is an issue with my html coding or IE9. Here's the site: http://www.northshoresmile.com/ Any advice would be appreciated. I want to make sure this is fixed before IE9 gets out of Beta. Thanks.
