Hi I'm in 8th Grade and I'm thinking of trying to get into IT tech before the end of there year so that I can say I was in college before I went into highschool. Can you guys/girls give me an idea as of what you do in 1st or 2nd year. I helped some people from there when they had problems on their homework. Hi guys. I'm a highschool student taking computer science classes at dartmouth college. I was wondering if anyone had an research topics for me to look into. I know the general answer to this kind of thing is "whatever you like", but I really have no idea. Just some general topics would be really useful, or a place where I can find out what else is being done so that I can get some ideas. X-mas vacation is coming up, and I'd love to find something to do (besides world of warcraft ;) ) thanks

Hey guys. First of all its nice to see an assemly forum that still has visitors..everything I found on the net are old forums unvisited for about 2-3 years. I started learning win32 assembly ...well..last night :). I do have (some) programming background in Delphi and some c/c++, and also ye old Z80-machine code (those were the days... :) ). I kept myself away from ASM because of my contact with Z80 ....since that was a very hard to "master" language (for me anyways...)...in comparison to pascal/delphi. But looking at a source on some forum last night I was amased …

Hi, My name is James and I'm from Southern Maryland. I'm a junior in highschool and this summer I am working as a paid intern at Zekiah Technologies, working with ASP.NET. I have experience with VB6, some C++, some HTML/CSS/Javascript, and a little ASP.NET. I just bought Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Standard and can't wait to start taking advantage of the new powers and create some programs that I've been wanting to make for a long time.

Like the title says, my VB6 hangman program freezes when I do a test run. I'm not a big expert in Visual Basic (in fact, I'm only a clueless highschool student..) so maybe you can help me. I'm not quite sure what causes freezing to occur, but I've pasted the code below so please take a look.
Dim letteranswer(5) As String Dim answerlist(10) As String Dim deathcounter As Integer Private Sub Form_Load() 'lblLetters are simply dashes that appear under 'picLetter, where the actual letters are shown For r = 1 To 5 lblLetter(r).Visible = True picLetter(r).Visible = False Next …

Hi everyone. I'm a highschool student taking Software Design and Development as one of my electives. It's pretty boring for the most part (theory!? Eww.. ) but programming is something that I'm slowly but surely learning. ...Though I'm still kinda struggling at it. I think it's also the pressure of being the only girl in my class? Hehehe... Well I came here, after lurking for some time, so I could finally ask for help because I'm quite a hopeless student, and hopefully, give out some tips of my own. ;)

First off hello to everyone, im new here. I know quite abit about computers, ive taken all the computer classes possible at my highschool and learned more from other tech students. Ive tried everything that i could think of to try to avoid involving anyone else. Well today i went to a computer business and talked to them for awhile and realized it would be a mistake to leave my laptop there for them to "try" to fix. I recieved this laptop from my cousin about a week ago. When she had it she had no problems with the internet. …

Well I joined this site a few days ago to see if someone could fix my "sick" PC. They did and I am grateful. Some info on me, I'm in highschool. I like computers, people refer their problems to me normally. Not because I can fix them but because I can find places to fix them or find out how to fix them and do it. I enjoy posting on several forums. My favorite forum at this time are the forums at Bungie.net. If you didn't know Bungie is the creator of the popular game Halo. I like those forums …

I'm a highschool senior looking at going to Full Sail for Game Design courses. I'm thinking of focusing on programming, but heard that there is currently no future in that due to saturation. I'd like to know what you all think (especailly those who are profesional programmers already) about job availability in the Programming field, specifically programming for game companies. I'd really prefer NOT to 'job-screw' myself.

Please tell me. I was called a Geek by my little sisters and by some people online. Girls don't seem to call me a Geek. I play highschool football. I like girls. I play video games. I go out. What exactly is a Geek? What do you think? I can fight well. Am I a geek? I get good grades. Am I a Geek? What could make me a Geek? What is a Geek? What is the origin of the word Geek? Please express the meaning of Geek in your way. Just so I can have an idea. Thanks. LOL …

Hello Everyone, I will be entering my senior year in highschool in the fall and was pondering possible college majors when the thought occurred to me that I may be cheating myself by not looking into programming. I then decided to learn a program language as to have a better understanding as to what the field would hold for me. By general concensious C++ seemed like the most reccomended option for versitility and power. So yeterday I started looking into a tutorial on C++ and am having a wonderful time writing simple* programs. (*by simple, I mean simple :o programs) …

Hi! I'm new to the forum, and relatively new to programming, too, so you'll probably be seeing a lot of me :) I taught myself HTML when I was in grade 7, took Computer Programming in Highschool, and then fell behind...it's a little tough to keep up-to-date on computer languages when you're not actively using them :P but yeah, I hope I can be of some help (though I wouldn't count on it  ) -Bunny

I didn't know which thread to post this question in so i just chose the visual basic one(random). My question is what do you guys recommend as a first programming language to learn for a highschool student interested in game programming....i'm sure there are a few that would do fine, but im looking for what is, in your opinion, the best language to start with in this particular field. Any suggestions and comments are welcome and appreciated

Hey everyone this is my first post and unfortunatly its about me needing help. I am currently running Windows XP home edition version 2002 service pack 1, with intel pentium 4 cpu at 1.6GHz and 512 MB of ram. After installing a new driver for my keyboard the system would freeze and lock up upon startup. I went through a huge multitude of steps and eventually ended up in msconfig under services, I enabled and disabled every service (except required services) until i found plug and play was causing the system to lock up. I am not sure if the …
