How can I minify my code in here, I am giving each 23 total imageview a eventhandler. code works, but I like to make the code shorter. I tried to use for loops to shorten the code. here is a example what I tried to do: for (int i = 0 ; i < imgArrayList.size() ; i++) { imgArrayList.get(i).setOnMouseClicked(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() { @Override public void handle(MouseEvent event) { selectedTile = i; } }); } but it can't because, the "i" inside the handle method is final. I can't pass the "i" inside the handle method. my goal is, that a specific …

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me with checking for a valid move in Othello. I was thinking about hard=coding everything but that takes too long. this is what i have so far: 1. Check which direction is valid (adjacent piece is different from piece being placed) 2. Go in that direction(s) and if: 1. hit the end, or hit a empty space return false 2. hit another piece, keep going 3. hit my own piece, stop

Hi! I have made a POS Sotware. I have used only one JFrame as Main/Home Screen of the software and used JDialogs for all other screens. In this post I have concern with the 2 screens; Home Screen(which is a Jframe) and Sales Screen(which is a JDialog). As Home Screen appears I instantiate an instance of the Sales Screen in the constructor of Home Screen as : Sale sale = new Sale(); And on Pressing a Button on Home Screen I called : sale.visible(true); In the WindowOpened Event of the "Sale" Screen I load the products data from database and …

Hi guys, I'm a little stuck with something here. Basically I have a a method which, given a List of Students will have to filter out those who are younger than 60yrs old and should return a List of Students who are over 60yrs old but I want this to be a list of Optionals rather than just a List of Students. THe difficulty is that I can't find a way to return a list of optionals like List<Optional<Student>>. I can return an optional if I use things like findFirst() or findAny() `return studentList.stream().filter(x -> x.getAge() > 60).findAny();` or i …

And I need the value of the magnitude. So I can print out the values. Later I will use the values to make rectangles and that rectangles will change height shape because of the …

Hello. As a personal project, I am trying to create a "Java Argot" translator. However I am having some issues. The purpose of the program is to translate a sentece into the following "Secret Languages": "Pig Latin", "Leet" and "Morse Code". I have only done the "Pig Latin" translator however, everytime I try to activate case one in the "switch case" I get the error message "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 0". The program shows that the line of code that is sending this message is these two lines: "`PigLatin_Translator.main(word);`" in the "Translator Menu" and …

Hi guys so I was playing with some code which would determine the whether a string is a palindrome or not. Its been a mixed bag of results with some palindromes being detected while others aren't. I do apologize to the lack of polish of my comments but I hope that someone might be able to see where the error is and give me good feedback. I think the error is in the set of code that removes the special characters from the string. As a reference, I am using this webiste: http://www.palindromelist.net/ as the source for the palindrome strings. …

Howdy All - I am just wondering if anyone has successfully converted a *massive* (subjectivity implied) COBOL application to another language. If so, into which language was your system converted and when was this done? What were the potholes you, no doubt, hit? Was the conversion far more expensive than anticipated? What hidden costs were exposed? Was there a performance gain/loss in the new language? Did anyone convert from COBOL to PL/SQL? to T-SQL? to Java? to C#.NET? Thanks, and have a great day!
