THE PROBLEM: A bank has about 100 branches throughout the country. To reduce the amount of traveling required for face-to-face meetings, the management has decided to install advance video conferencing (VC) facilities in all branches. In order to install this VC facility, the service provider has to connect-up the branches with optical fiber links. The service provider charges different amount of installation fees to connect diffrerent pairs of branches. However, it is not possible to connect up every possible pairs of branches due to the high cost. You want a set of fiber links that connects all the branches with …

Recently 2 Admins on my website asked me that they would like to Code a software which will help them Moderate normal users and i agreed by saying that i would code them a very! simple API with only the basic stuff they would need. Now the question that came to my mind is that how do i restrict access so that only they could use it? **Unsuccessful Solution 1** I thought about using an API key which they would need in order to use the API. But the problem is, if the API key is somehow stolen or leaked, …

Hi, I chose Feature Driven Development (FDD) as the development methodology to use for the development of my final year project. As you probably know, each 'feature' (functional part of the system) has a plan, design and build stage. The problem i have found is that in examples of the methodology on different sites, they always assume that it is for a 50 man team and the plan and designs are based on allocating tasks etc to different members. As i am developing my project alone, i wondered if anyone knows what the plan and designs for each feature would …

In a blog posting August 26, Microsoft announced that it is revising the licensing terms of its Security Development Lifecycle, moving parts of it to a Creative Commons license. Security Development Lifecycle is a methodology that Microsoft developed that incorporates best security practices at every level of the development lifecycle when security is important--such as in secure business environments or where personally identifiable information is vital. The methodology includes a set of documentation explaining the process and how to follow it, as well as a set of software tools to help in the software development. But there's always been a …

Hello, I'm in a software design class and we are using java; I've taken other programming classes and I'm familiar with a few other languages but that's the problem. I feel like I'm missing the point of java. I don't even know the term for it...but the java style I geuss. How can you program only with classes? I more or less understand the idea of OOP, I've written classes in C++, but I think I mostly just programmed in a C style and used classes to make a new data type and then I'd use it. Java doesn't work …
