In DOS, C, VB6 we could check if Transmitter Shift Register or Transmitter Holding Register empty or not before writing any data onto the serial port. This facility would certainly avoid making the attempt of writing while the port is not ready to accept data. similarly, we could check if valid data has arrived in the serial port receiver before we read data. I am converting my VB6 based serial communication codes into C#. But, I don't find anything (I mean method) in C# that will allow me to check if TX-register or THR is ready to accept data. Also, …

Hi All, I'm having a bit of a problem with a service I'm developing. I have a CGI script sitting on my server (Ubuntu 10.0.4) which obviously receives it's requests on port 80, and the incoming requests arrive on port 8083 which is out of my control. So I have set up a datapipe-static which forwards all the data to port 80, and the solution is working perfectly for my first script, but somehow no requests are reaching my second script. What I've tried: - Accessing the script through a browser works (even on port 8083) - Tcpdumps on every …

Before going into the problem, here is some hardware/software information: Device accessed: Ohaus Scout Pro Digital Weight Machine (product link) Interface used: USB (product link) Serial Port: COM3 OS: WinXP Python Version: Activestate Python 2.7 pyserial version: 2.5 Python recognized this serial port and had no problems opening it. I am new to python as well as pyserial. I couldn't figure out how exactly can I read data from the serial port. I used the following code:
import serial ser=serial.Serial(port='COM3',timeout=3) s=ser.read(100) #reading up to 100 bytes print s
This prints nothing. During those 3 seconds timeout, I placed an object …

Hi, I have made a port forwarder, ZA is server side, and Client is client side. This Port Forwarder sits in middle of both, and simply sends data coming from Client to ZA, and from ZA to Client. Its not like for every ZA packet, Client will send a response, for a particular packet from ZA, Client can send Multiple packets, and same applies vice versa.
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Net.Sockets; using System.Net; using System.Threading; namespace WindowsApplication1 { public partial class PortForwarder : Form { private TcpListener tcpListener; private …

I have a Verizon FiOS router. I need to be able to forward port 5900 (VNC) to a specific machine, is there any way to do this over SSH? I can't just use Lynx because the router config page uses JavaScript for everything. Is there any way I can forward this port? Is there a way to tell the router to forward it without using the config page? I know it's possible because Skype does it.

Hello, The application I'm using prints to a COM port. I cannot get around this. I've been trying to send this data (text) to a virtual printer or a txt file and have not been successful. Is there any software that will allow data to COM ports to be redirected to a virtual printer port? Is there a way I can save the text printed to the COM port as a text file instead of actually printing it out? Any help/ ideas would be appreciated.

Have been using Outlook 2003/2007 for years with no major issues. Last week I found that the outbox on both of my machines were not clearing. My Outlook works with a third party internet email service. The incoming/outgoing servers and other settings were appropriate. I next opened a case with Verizon, my DSL service. They are suggesting that the outgoing port has been changed to 587 not 25. The tech went on to say that this change was initiated by Microsoft... Sounded like nonsense to me. Pinging smtp.onebox.com has repeatedly timed out. My suspicion is that Verizon blocked access to …
