Hi all, Here is the code in c++ and i am new to coding world hence i need little help in converting this code into R #include <iostream> #include <cmath> #include <fstream> #include <string> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { std::string protein; ifstream aa; aa.open("aa.txt"); //we are getting the data from the file (we assume that we have aa.txt file) aa>>protein; //the sequence should be in one letter code (uppercase letters) aa.close(); int ProtLength; //now we are getting protein length ProtLength = protein.length(); char Asp = 'D'; char Glu = 'E'; char Cys = 'C'; char Tyr …

I've been studying computer science and computer programming for years now in high school. I've been accepted to universities that offer two different kinds of degrees. One is Computer Science and one is Software Engineering. I could go either way for which degree I get, I was just wondering if someone could give me the big differences between the two and which, in their opinion, is better. This will help me decide which degree would better suit me. I heard that computer science involves more math while software engineering involves more business applications. Thanks!

Just thought I'd start a thread for those of us into sci-fi and comicons. I used to attend Creation Conventions when Star Trek TNG was at it's peak. I loved going in costume (Klingon of course). I've since moved from NYC and of course lost some of my gear; and I've been trying to find a new Klingon head piece to replace the one that was lost. Doe snyone know any goo costuming places online that have the headpieces? Tekkno

I have always thought I wanted to study computer science for many reaons even though I did not know much about it or about the many other majors taht are availlable. I took AP in computer science and I liked it for the first 6 weeks or so untill I noticed that I did not like studying it at all. I just did not like opening my AP CS book and preferred to study Calculus, English or any other subject instead. I am now taking a founndation year in the UK and the only computer class that I am taking …

I love the idea of dependency injection. I started doing psuedo dependency injection on my own before I knew about DI because I was frustrated programming without it. I then discovered Guice. From a program design point of view, I like it a lot. Everything is much more decoupled and testable. But from a programming perspective, I absolutely hate it. First off, using generics (because of type erasure) is a nightmare. Creating factories for everything that has paramatized constructors (basically everthing) is almost painfull. When I have a generic factory... I sometimes just stop programming and give up. It's too …

So as part of my computer science course, we have been instructed to build an encryption process. I have a good knowledge on different encryption methods (RSA for example), however I am having a hard time trying to create my own. Now, before anyone says it, I know, using homebrew methods for data encryption is dangerous and should not be used. That is not the purpose of the assignment. All we need to do is create something that works. Thanks for any replys!

In the brute force pattern matching algorithm when all the characters in the pattern are unique then brute force can be implemented in Big-oh(n) complexity where n is the length of the string (reference: introduction to algorithms). can anyone help me with the algorithm? Thanks in advance

I saw this segment and I wasn't sure if I was excited or scared... but my feelings were urging more towards fear. I just do not know if it's a good idea to start microchipping people for better intelligence. Especially our children. Are we slowly turning ourselves in robots? As computer geeks with a pulse on modern technology, I wanted to hear your opinion on the way future is heading. Thoughts? Here is video:[Click Here](http://bit.ly/17lz3LO)

You have to implement a file system that should have the following specifications. On the execution of your code your console should display the following options to the user. 1. Create a new file. 2. List & view existing files. 3. Copy file from windows (*.txt). 4. Copy file to windows (*.txt). 5. Modify. 6. Delete. 7. Defragmentation (Bonus Feature) System Initialization At the initialization of file system, a 10 MB file should be initialized. Your file should be divided into 3 parts.

I would like to propose a link thread for posting listings of sites on CS topics not tied to a specific language. Two that come to mind as being relevant to some of the more common questions would be the [OS Dev Wiki](http://www.osdev.org), and the similarly themed but less established [Compiler Dev Wiki](http://www.compilerdev.com/). [Rosetta Code](http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Rosetta_Code) would also be relevant, for comparisons between languages and paradigms. A few others to start with might be: * [The Dictionary of Algorithms and Data Structures](http://xlinux.nist.gov/dads/) * The [Portland Pattern Repository](http://c2.com/ppr/), home of the original WikiWikiWeb as well

Hi, we, the Software Engineering Group at Trier University (Germany), are currently conducting a survey on the use of sketches and diagrams in software development. We want to gain deeper insights into the work of software practitioners (developers, testers, architects, etc.) to call attention to their actual work practices, which we think is rarely done in academic research. It is difficult for us to reach software practitioners, therefore I post my call for participation here. Our short online survey (5-10 minutes) is available here: http://www.st.uni-trier.de/survey/ We can also discuss how and why you create and use sketches and diagrams when …

Almost exactly a year ago I was writing about [the development of Google Glass](http://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/pc-hardware/monitors-displays-and-video-cards/news/426788/no-google-glass-for-most-developers-until-2014) here at DaniWeb. In the meantime, the project has turned into a reality and [actual product has got into the hands of reviewers](http://www.pcpro.co.uk/features/380401/before-iwatch-and-google-glass-wearable-computing-milestones-and-failures/2) and some lucky users with $1,500 to spare. This would all be much more exciting for me were it not for the fact that my vision is severely impaired thanks to suffering from Wet Macular Degeneration in one eye (hence the patch) and the other being very lazy indeed. I get by with the use of a contact lens and high magnification reading …

Hello Daniweb Users! I'm taking a Programming Logic course next semester, and I'm curious as to what kind of topics we'll be covering. The course will be using the BASIC programming language for its examples and evercises, which I've never worked with. I'm fairly new to programming, but I've done simple programming such as bat & vbs scripting, and I'm very comfortable with analysis of different formats of source code. Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to your replies :D

Hey everybody.I am going into the second year of a Computer Science degree that I am paying for out of pocket, so can only attend part-time. I have taken a Javascript class, basic web development (HTML, CSS, JS), and will take Visual Basic and a hardware class in the fall. I also have some real world web development and design experience.Chances are that I will have to take a hiatus from school for a couple of years after earning my associates. (I am attending a community college due to cost, but hope to be able to afford state 4-year college …
