I have a 320GB SATA drive that I was using as an external drive when, rather suddenly, the drive stopped functioning. Windows XP (which is what I was running on my old PC) didn't even recognize that I'd attached the drive. Hi I have a Dell Precision workstation 490 and increased the initial one GB ram (two 512MB sticks) to five by adding two 2GB sticks after I upgraded the op system to Windows 7 Pro 64bit and I have installed the most recent BIOS. There was no problem, the system recognized five GB of memory. I have bought two 4GB sticks and added them. The system in Setup now only recogizes nine GBs. I have a 16GB Verbatim USB flash drive and each time I insert it into a USB port I get the error message; "USB device not recognised". I have tried many suggestions but none of them have worked. Unlike most other posts, my USB ports work just fine, the problem is my USB flash drive. What should I do?
