Remember when you had to use a whole host of 'utility downloads' just to keep your PC running smoothly? Windows has had optimization tools built in for ages now, so surely the days of PC optimization suites are long over? Not so according to iolo, which has just released System Mechanic 11 - the latest suite of such tools to hit the market since it first launched way back in 1998. ![dweb-sysmech02](/attachments/small/0/dweb-sysmech02.jpg "align-right") With over 40 million users since those early days, System Mechanic is certainly the best known of the tune-up suites for Windows. So here's the thing, it is now some 10 years since the first iPod was launched and the way we listen to music changed forever. One of the things that changed, if you are anything like me, is that your iTunes database became the centre of your musical life. Unfortunately, across those 10 years that database can get kind of dirty. A quick look at my iTunes database reveals a whole bunch of tracks with no album artwork, which is no big deal I grant you, but also a whole bunch of songs with spelling mistakes or where the import …

One of my Christmas presents to myself this year (2009) was a new laptop. It's an Acer Aspire 7535-5020 with 4GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, Wireless LAN, Built-in Camera, GigaBit LAN, Modem (Does anyone use a Modem any more?), a huge 16:9, 17" screen and a full-size keyboard. It helps fix errors that can cause crashes and slow down performance, boost Internet speeds and Windows start times, clean out clutter and generally ensure your computer runs smoothly and speedily. Product Review System Mechanic 9.5

Reviewer's View I'm the kind of person who has an almost religious fervour when it comes to keeping data backed up, perhaps unsurprisingly as I am an IT professional and my livelihood depends upon it. So when it came to the hands-on testing of System Mechanic 9.5 for this DaniWeb review I had no qualms about going real world, biting the bullet and letting the computer tune-up software loose on my day to day work netbook. That, and the fact that System Mechanic has been used by more than 23 million consumers to fix more than 70 million computers over …
