Hi all,

I was just wondering, does anyone have any other message boards out there that they prefer? It's not that this isn't a good board, I was just trying to find any others that are also good ones.

Thanks,
Nate

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for tech support on relatively modern systems, DaniWeb is difficult to beat. If you're talking about an older system (about 1980 vintage) you may want to try Uncreative Labs (yes, it's a plug for a site I'm involved in) first. http://www.uncreativelabs.net

If you want information on Ada, (the programming language) then your best bet is the comp.lang.ada newsgroup.

If you want to talk about trains, trains.com is one of the best...

All in all, there are many good message boards out there, it just depends on what you want to talk about. Take the time to bookmark an interesting site and come back to it day after day. A good message board will be somewhat busy discussing relative topics to the site it's usually attached to.

I prefer ... daniweb .... cuz its so addictive ... n I bet you'll not find such nice people anywhere else ... daniweb forcefully transforms its visitors to its members .. and then members here are like members of a family ... always willing to help ....

Spend your time here a bit n you'll appreciate what I said.

I only go to 2, and the other one is my friends forum in rl, so I gotta go to his, but when I visit I go here, this has a lot of topics I like and thus I choose here...:)

www.neowin.net for more general discussions about more technology-related stuff. This site I would say is more of a community, so you get less help there than here anyways ;)

oh oops sorry ><'

Thanks to all of you that helped me out! I'm always looking for new boards to help broaden my networking and education in this constantly changing field.

Thanks again,
Nate

I've heard that http://dnforum.com/ is also pretty good, based around domain names. One drawback is you have to pay for membership to post.

One day I just checked my email box, and someone I don't know sent me an invite membership free. Maybe I'm just lucky.

no problem, any time - Killer_Typo: experts-exchange.com not only barrages you with ads everywhere you look but requires you to pay for a decent view ratio IIMO any place is better then them, especially since you can get the same help they offer if not better for free with alot less ads

I have a year membership there (I'm using a friend's account, we share it) and it is pretty decent there. They are a direct competitor of our website over here, though, and daniweb is more of a community-based website than their's.

I once used their site for a problem I needed solved via their trial and I rated someone a B because although their answer was the most helpful out of all of the ones I got it still didn't solve my problem and the thread was going nowhere, then the next day I got a PM from the person I graded saying "Why'd you give me a B?! Don't be surprised if no one's anxious to help you next time.", and I've never used them since
