Hello! I know that you are an administrator and I know that you are very busy. however, I really need my computer to type my lab reports that is due very soon.

I just need a quick answer.

I have a problem with my sony labtop.

I want to make my laptop's system new as before, like making the system turn like the way I just brought it. I.E when the laptop is turned on, you have to fill out the information all over again, just like when you first brought it.

What keyboard button do I click "F something" (i know that F10 is to reboot and restore the c:// drive but i do not want that and F8 is not it)...i want to reboot the whole system to make it turn into the same format as it was when you first brought it?

Hi, The easiest way to do this is to use your resore cd's that came with your sony.
just put the restore cd ( or dvd ) in the drive and restart the computer, it will then say something like "press any key to boot from cd" so just press enter and it will go through the restore process itself.
NOTE this WILL delete all your personal files, pictures, music etc so make sure you back them all up first.

Hi Kim.

Some computers give you that option of pressing the F10 (or similar) key to restore the system to its original settings. This is because all that information (windows, drivers, software and utilities) is stored on a special harddrive partition.

But other computers don't give you that option because the manufacturer gives you a CD (or set of CDs) to restore the system if needed.

If you are not getting the "press the F10 to restore"-like message at boot, you probably need to do the job from the CD(s), like Dave says.
Note that the F8 is the windows startup menu key, and it's available on all windows systems.
