what can you do with coldfusion?

hi i am a web developer and i never really understood what coldfusion can do. If you can point me to some tutorial links explaining basics of coldfusion i would appreciate that.

go to www.lynda.com as well. Very good site for tutorials and it has cold fusion tutorials as well. You have to join but there are free videos for most every section. One advantage of CF is its a tag based language similar to html. So its quite a bit easier. Drawback to CF is its not free like PHP is.

But, for a local development, Adobe offers Cold Fusion Dev edition, which can be used for free. Then when you are ready to go live, you need to find a hosting service that supports cold fusion.
