I am studying for college for a very complex exam that includes database administration project management, system analysis and many others. I have some database admin questions that I really need help with. Any help would be appreciated. here they r:

four resources should you monitor regularly? (Choose four.)

A.
memory

processor(s)
C.
dns subsystem
D.
disk subsystem

wins subsystem

tables
B.
columns
C.
triggers
D.
network access
E.
desktop security
F.
stored procedures
3. A database administrator restores a table from the previous day and

backed up for some time.

After fixing the problem, which step prevents this situation from
recurring?

A.
check for memory leaks
B.
check non-locking records
C.
allocate memory and disk space
D.
perform an integrity check prior to backup
E.
use incremental transaction log backup scheme

4. Which level lock enables a Database Management System (DBMS) to allow a
concurrent transaction to access different rows of the same table, even
if the rows are located on the same page?

A.
a row
B.
a page
C.
a table
D.
a database
5. Which two activities should a database administrator perform before
implementing a database? (Choose two.)

A.
maintain security and integrity
B.
script the database system objects
C.
establish backup and recovery procedures
D.
monitor database transactions for reliability
E.
properly secure database access and user accounts
6. You are involved in creating a new database that tracks employee travel
expenses. Which tool should you use to understand the relationships of
the data?

A.
Object Oriented Planning (OOP)
B.
Structured Entity Modeling (SEM)
C.
Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD)
D.
Relational Object Data Manager (RODM)
E.
Object Oriented Relationship Manager (OORM)
7. From a database designer's point of view, the relational Database
Management System (DBMS) tends to be oriented toward the _____.

A.
network model ???
B.
external model
C.
physical model
D.
conceptual model
E.
hierarchical model
8. You have interviewed a warehouse clerk to determine the clerk's
responsibilities. You have identified all the personnel in the department and
understand what they do and how they interact with each other. You also
understand the present system. Your manager has tasked you with
documenting your findings concerning the tasks of each person in the
department in relation to the receiving activity.

Which diagram type should you use to document and communicate your
findings?

DATABASE question
A.
Context Diagram
B.
UML Use Case Diagram
C.
Data Flow Diagram (DFD)
D.
UML Component Document
E.
Entity-Relationship Document (ERD)
9. "I want my geographically-dispersed employee workforce, many of whom
telecommute from home, to have access to our current inventory
information. Right now, their only access is to a data warehouse that is updated
every 24 hours. They can access that via a direct dial-in connection,
but we want them to have more current information available to them via
the World Wide Web. Is this possible?"

And given the system requirement specifications:
• supports a DB2 database
• supports 24x7 order entry capability
• processes order information in real time
• updates product information in real time
• stores and gives access to all inventory information
• runs on AS/400

What is a potential gap between the user requirements and the system
specifications?

A.
remote access
B.
intranet accessibility ????
C.
real-time order processing
D.
real-time product information updating

10. You have interviewed a warehouse clerk to determine everything that
should be tracked to perform the warehouse job. You have the various forms
(containing data elements and groupings) needed in a new system. Your
manager has tasked you with documenting your findings. You need to
create a conceptual data model.

Which type of diagram should you use to document and communicate your
findings?

A.
UML Activity Diagram
B.
UML Use Case Document
C.
UML Component Diagram
D.
Data Flow Diagram (DFD)
E.
Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD)

Bud I just looked at the first few. I'm not looking at the rest. But I hope that you study a little bit before you take this test. I suggest you go to the back of the book and memorize the glossary and the Index. Then go through and look some of this stuff up. If all else fails Googlize.

I would just give you the answers. But then you would be bumming, and I did that myself for too long. I'm sorry but I can't let someone screw up like I did. I regret ever just letting someone else give me the answers.
Also: you can check out this site. http://www.actualtests.com
Might prove to be a good resource for you later on. It's for certification tests.

One more thing. Don't listen to everybody that says... oh databases are soo hard.

That is nothing but bull. Databases are very simple. It's all in how you decide to view it.

How are you with organization. Good?
Well I found that the more you look at small things, the more you understand the big things. If you have a problem with a database it's always something simple. But you are always going to find it was something plain in sight. It still hurts when I try to figure out what I've done wrong for hours on end, then a friend or my teacher points out an extra space that messed up a relationship or a query. It does make you feel a little stupid.

The Questions you have posted are all seemingly "average" homework questions.
I would suggest that you "hit the books". I have to do the same now or I'm going to fail my networking class, and just because I didn't pay attention to terms.

thanks for the advice. the exam questions are going to be different and not contain that many database questions. I have v good networking skills and I am pretty sure i will pass. I just wanted to know the answers to the above questions more for my knowledge. I tried to use google and books(not too many books because they didn't ask me to buy a "database" book). thanks again for the help

how do context diagram relate to ER diagrams .

Lightninghawk, great answer regarding the databases. Also, I would recommend a great book by Apress: "SQL Server 2000 Fast Answers". It is excellent helper for the developer.
