In ubuntu10.10 i have created a php file, info.php and when I go to my browser and type the url:
127.0.0.1/info.php it pops up the window asking open or save the file,i choose open so it asks for the application to open with( refer the screen shot)Please help.

I would expect the issue to be that you do not have Apache and PHP configured correctly. Have you installed mod_php properly?
