Any big plans (while keeping safe)? Just staying home? We aren't doing much of anything.

Are you planning on getting the vaccine as soon as it becomes available to you, after it’s been a bit more thoroughly vetted, or not at all? Personally, I think it was pushed through just a bit too fast for my liking. I’m holding off until they see what long term side effects and efficacy are.

I think I finally understand why Trump is doing so well (he recently pulled even with Hillary Clinton). It's only after years of shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent that his rise is possible. These shows got Americans used to the idea that they could vote with no actual consequences. In most cases (with very few exceptions), people with minimal talent are voted on and selected as "the winner", then almost immediately return to obscurity. In some cases (remember Sanjaya Malakar) there was an actual campaign to rig the vote so that a thoroughly undeserving candidate would win. …

Any dog parents out there? My sheltie just turned 6 months. She's suuuuuch a smart breed that I literally need to keep her mind occupied every moment throughout the day or she gets bored and destructive. She gets all her meals in the form of puzzles. Today has been especially difficult because she has been non-stop barking every moment *unless* I'm actively training her, playing with her, entertaining her, or feeding her. The moment I walk back over to the computer and try to get back to work, she's back at it. Anyone else here work from home while dealing …

Hey Folks, Hope you are all well. Long time no visit for me, but I had a weird question that I am struggling to answer and thought somebody here may be able to help. I am looking for a camera app for my phone (either Android or iOS) that has the ability to show an existing picture with a degree of transparency when looking through the viewfinder [so to speak] at what the lens is currently seeing. In a nutshell, we have some pictures of our garden and having done a ton of work, I would like to do some …

Hello DaniWeb members, I know I'm not the only one who has tried to talk with non-hackers and used the term 'Crackers', to their total confusion. The problem is that the media has always refered to the Black Hat Hackers as just 'hackers', and that has given the **REAL** (White and maybe Grey Hat) Hackers a bad name. At the same time the term 'Cracker' has a slang meaning that many more people know about. So, this day I offer you a challenge! Let's see what all of our wit and creativity can come up with! What are your ideas …

I'm hoping that people will post unusual or little known facts here. It would be proper to include a link to a source for confirmation. Here's a start. Speedy Gonzales was banned by the Cartoon Network for being an offensive stereotype, only to be returned after mass protest by the Hispanic-American community. Is everyone familiar with this game? Just reply with the first word that comes to your mind when you think of the last word posted. You can't respond to the post with a comment, just the word that comes to your mind. It can only be a word or a short phrase. Also remember to use the arrow --> in between the previous word/phrase and the new word/phrase you just thought of. Also, You can't go twice in a row. I'll start it off with: Lucy

I think we can all agree (this will likely provoke disagreement) that a voting machine that records a vote electronically without a way to do a manual verification is a bad idea. How then should a proper voting machine work. My suggestion is to have a touch screen on which the voter makes his/her selections (invalid selections would not be allowed). The voter would 1. Make selections on screen 1. Print ballot 1. Compare ballot to screen Once the voter receives the printout he/she would then compare the printed ballot with the selections made on screen. At that point the …

Hello there all, I have a question. Why does medical research take up alot of computing power/processing power. For example the folding@home project by Stanford ? Another example being weather calculations or weather research. What exactly makes them take up so much power ? For example, I saw in a news clip that the army just bought alot of PS3's to simulate a human brain. Do all these 3 examples have different traits or something else ?

A few years ago, the Canadian government (at that time it was a majority Conservative government under Stephen Harper) proposed legislation which would have weakened the privacy rights of all Canadians. Part of the justification was to allow easier apprehension and prosecution of people trafficking in child pornography. The justice minister, Vic Toews, said that anyone opposing the bill was in favour of child pornography. Of course, this was a ridiculous statement, creating a false dichotomy of "you're either with us or against us". Similarly, the media seems intent on painting anyone who favoured Great Britain's exit from the European …

Hey guys I decided a while back that I wanted to get into coding. I started a few days ago with sever tutorials ranginf from how the internet works to codeacademy which starts me straight off coding simple Python. This seems all well and good but the problem I have is that there is just so much free content knocking about I dont actually know what would be the best logical place to start. I think the general consensus from what I can work out is to start with javascript but im open to listen to any advice people have. …
