No keys work, the caps lock or num lock don't light up but the blue dvd lights bleep when touched. Tried plugging in an external screen but just says no signal. Any …

I bought a second hand custom PC back in 2016 for gaming. The guy said it was plug and play, but my husband spent hours trying to get it to work. Anyway, the past year or so it's been giving me some issues. Mainly rebooting itself without prompt or just shutting down. It must have turned itself off sometime yesterday because I went to use it today and it was off. I pressed the power button (sometimes when I press the button to turn it on, the light comes on, then it goes out and I have to press the …

HP Pavilion DV2700 - Vista Windows OS the backspace does not work and only the g and the h and the ' key on the "a" row work. I have changed the keyboard - brand new - still the same keys do not work. Why? and is there a fix? The problem started after some juice was spilled on the computer. Below is a sampling of the keys that DO work. pushed in sequence across the board. An external USB keyboard does work. 1234567890-= qwertyuiop[]\ gh' zxcvbnm,./

So you've lost access to your data through hardware failure or accidental erasure. What do you do? Like most cyber-warriors you naturally turn to the Internet, be that via a Google search or YouTube video, for help. That's a big mistake says [Kroll Ontrack](https://www.krollontrack.co.uk/blog/), a data recovery specialist, as self-inflicted permanent data loss is apparently on the up. Of course, there's going to be a certain amount of MRDA in this assertion. That's Mandy Rice-Davies Applies, or 'well he would say that, wouldn't he?' in case you wondered. As [Wikipedia says](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRDA), referencing an article of mine in the further reading …

I have a Samsung SCX-3405FW that when trying to print while the printer has gone to power save, it says offline. I checked the settings on the web interface but it still seems to do it. If I power off then back on the printer, I can print. I looked online about it and someone mentioned that Samsung told them to disable the bi-directional, after trying that, the same issue happens. The printer is on DHCP but I did a static in the router so it has the same IP. I installed the SyncThru Web Admin Service, I can communicate …

I have a problem- and I don't know if this is the place to post for help, but I've found good info on here before. I haven't been able to find an answer after looking through several dozen forums and chats and help sites. Maybe someone here can give me direction. First, I opened my PC to find the fonts on the desktop had been replaced by squares and symbols and nonsense. After searching I found a few ideas for how to fix it, and tried each of them, including running a .reg script, resetting the system fonts, deleting and …

There is no signal to the monitor, it powers up and there is the initial beeping sound, cd drives, HDD, floppy and all lights and fans work fine. It doesnt boot up. I googled to try and solve the problem and have tried a process of elimination, so far I have: 1) CHecked video card - I replaced with an old one which definately works and still no activity. I then thought it could be the AGP slot but when I put the original card back i removed the power connections for it and it started beeping, so I presume …

As PCs age you enounter "The Dead PC" from time to time. Long ago I even owned a PC repair shop and learned a lot from the experience. But fast forward to today. While I know a bit about PC design something of a mystery to me is why folk have been pushing back on a common cheap thing to try on dead machines. Pop in a new CMOS battery. I could go on why this can cause a PC to hang but here if it's the usual CR2032 we buy these in bulk for the office at 25 cents …

Recently the LCD screen on my Gateway Solo 5150 Laptop went black. I took it to a repair shop where they replaced the inverter board that supplies power to the LCD lamp. The unit worked very well for a couple of days and the problem re-appeared. I took it back to the repair shop. They ordered a second inverter, and low and behold, that inverter also failed in about the same amount of time. It may be important to point out that both of the replacement inverters were used. I am considering buying a new inverter, but I am concerned …

I am having an issue with my computer starting up. It will power up, I hear the hard drives spinning, the fans all come on including the CPU fan. But I get no visual, no beeps. I tried to wait out around 5 min or so to see if it is going through it's startup process which would cause my mouse and keyboard to light up once in Windows at the login screen, but it never did that. I tried to test a different monitor, a different graphics card and all variations between. I don't see the power signal inside …

Therefore the only way I can use my laptop is of I shut it down, charge it and use it on battery. In summary I can't charge my laptop when it's on. What might be the problem? Thanks a bunch any help will be really appreciated

I have a 2005 Toshiba laptop with a celeron processor. For some reason my computer will just shut off without warning. You've got about 15 minutes tops to use it before it'll just turn off unexpectedly. If you're doing something a little more complicated, like running a virus scan, it'll turn off within a few minutes. I think the longest it's stayed on in about a year is half an hour. It's just been sitting on the desk for over 6 months without use because it's not even worth my time to try and use it. You can look at …
