Hi!! I would like to know if I could get someone's help. My computer, which is connected to an internal web, had a detected security risk, so Symantec Antivirus was installed to make a clean-up. Nevertheless, after the installation, a couple of messages appear every time I initiate the computer, saying that there's a failure with "C:DOCUME~1userLOCALS~1applic~1micros~2winini~1.exe" specified in the registry. Also, even after the antivirus update and scannings, there is a message that appears 2-3 times per minute over the Symantec Endpoint Protection in the Desktop Bar, indication,saying "[SID:24142] System Infected: Trojan Download Request detected" [] . Nothing happens when I press the message, and it dissapears by itself.

Any recommendation to solve this two problems would be highly appreciated!!

Thanx!

Tony

I also ran the HijackThis test. At the beginning it appears a window saying that for some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file, indicating that HijackThis may not be able to fix them. I pressed ok.

Here is the logfile:

Hi and welcome to Daniweb.

I see a couple of problems in that log. Because we no longer use hijackthis for identifying/removing malware, I would ask you to follow ALL the directions given in the following sticky;

http://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/microsoft-windows/viruses-spyware-and-other-nasties/threads/134865/read-me-before-posting-a-request-for-assistance

Please post up ALL the requested logs and I will take a look when I see them.

I have also moved this thread to the correct forum.

Thanks, Crunchie, for your answer! I am in the downloading process, but here (China) internet is sometimes blocked and slow, so it might take little more than usual to finish that. I will post as soon as I finish all the instructions!
