Well it's official, I'm now enrolled and am registered in my first semester of classes and will be a college student by the end of August...again. I had thought about taking a simple class to try to slip back into the thought process of being a student, but it seems …

Have you looked in the BIOS to see if the USB keyboard feature has been disabled? btw...your keyboard will not work in the BIOS, you have to use the F keys, up and down keys, + or - keys, and let's not forget the enter and esq keys.

Ouch...that one could cost you. Next time use either a VOM or DMM to check the out put of the PSU, and a continuity test on the power cord (unpluged). Most PSUs have DC voltages ranging from +3.3v to +20v, and -5v to -20v. If there was a short in …

Did you hear about the guy that cut the whole left side of his body off in a chainsaw accident? He's all right.

The listed requirements for a PSU for that card is 400W, and that Antec is a good PSU, I don't think this is your problem. The noise that you hear when it first starts could also be you optical devices spinning up, and yes it could be the hdd. Is …

I'm guessing that you aren't using the computer as a piggy bank, and that when you say you put more money into it you are refering to an after sale installation. Will you please tell us what you installed?

It depends on what that message was, if it said it can't because it is in use, try deleting it in the safe mode, but as previously suggested you should be able to delete it in the conrol pannel under add and remove programs.

Have you tried blowing it out, there isn'y a lot of space in laptops for circulation so getting dust and other fiberous material in there can cause a loss of circulation which in turn can causes over heating which will shut the machine down.

The beeps are an error code, if you tell us what make and model your computer is we can find out what the error code is and go from the to sort out your porblem.

What make and model is your motherboard, CPU, RAM, and PSU? Part of this sounds like you had a problem with the OS installation and have bugs. It might be worth formatting the hdd, partition it and reinstall the OS.

hello Pi, and welcome to DaniWeb. What did you use when you scanned the computer? It does sound like some kind of infection, some infections will not be active in the safe mode which would explain why it will load normally. This inversely is why it is best to run …

You may be able to add RAM beyond the recommended amount, but it will make you computer run slower...if it works at all. Machine as old as you people are talking about are picky about what RAM they will run on which become another consideration. For those of you in …

What else are you using this computer for? If you are going on line with it then you should scan for infections, that's typically what slows things down if it has happened quickly. When was the last time that you defragged the hdd? How much RAM and free space on …

Between the beep and the keyboard LEDs staying on I would guess that you have some thing stopping the POST. Look in you user's manual to see what the beep indicates.

When you take a hdd with a Windows OS installed on it that you have been using on one computer and then install it as a master in another computer you are asking for major problems. The excerpt below is from a Intel article which describes in detail what happens. …

What does the user's manual say about settings in the BIOS? And look and see if there is a jumper on the motherboard that needs to be changed. It the BIOS has an auto setting there may be other setting specific to the two different graphics.

If it is a USB type keyboard look in the BIOS to see if it is still enabled. If it came with drivers try reinstalling them.
