I recently upgraded my processor to a Intel Core 2 Quad 2.5 GHz Q8300 (S-Spec SLGUR). I have a Windows XP SP3 running on the machine. The motherboard is a Gigabyte G33 with 2 GB of RAM. I am facing a weird problem. The OS is recognizing the processor as a Pentium III Xenon. I am confused. Could someone plz tell me what is happening here ?

You probably need to flash the bios. If the cpu is working as it should and all cores are enabled, I would not worry as flashing the bios can brick your motherboard if something goes wrong, like a power outage half way through.
