I have a Dell Dimension 4500 series desktop with 256mb of ram and I want to upgrade to 1gb. Im limited to only 512mb per each slot, but I could be wrong on that. I was wondering what kind of ram would you guys recommend and am I only limited to the specs of my computer.

They have a very good service andhave been established for a couple of years. Also run their system checker, to see what you can buy and for how much.
try to invest minimun in 1GB and I think regarding your 512MB per slot issue I need you to speak to dell Cust care. You might as well be wrong in that.
