Im having a small problem. Im not sure if the virus or malware is completely gone but i want to make sure. I have run Trend Micro 08 but it has not detected anything. I have also run Windows Defender but it was taking too long. I have recently run Spyware Doctor and found about 50 infections but i am still getting a few pop up windows from trend micro telling me that there are a few virus still around. Thanks for the help.

Hi SeeJay, welcome to daniweb,
Download and run HiJackThis
Do a Full System Scan and save the log and post it back here.
AFTER posting that log here....
Then do this;
Please Download ATF-Cleaner.exe by Atribune
Save it to the desktop for easy access.
-- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
-- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
-- Click Empty Selected > OK

If you use Firefox browser, do this also:

* Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
* Click the Empty Selected button.
* NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, click No at the prompt.

Next do the following;
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop.

* DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.
Reboot the computer
Now run another full system scan with HiJackThis and save that log.
Post back here with the MBA-M log and also that second HJT log.

Once you have place the check marks and PLEASE NOTE there are 16 of those O4 listings and the one O15 listing so don't miss any of those...Then click the Fix Checked button.
Exit HJT.
Reboot the computer and run a new HJT scan and that is the log you will post back with along with the MBA-M log.

Looks as if MBA-M has done some removal, and that is good. However, have to point out a couple things here;
In your first post you said this

I have also run Windows Defender but it was taking too long

meaning to me that you stopped it before it completed. Then today you said

I was not able to finish the Malware scan yesterday so here is the log of what it scanned.

You allowed it to scan for 5 minutes and 44 seconds and it scanned only 33,956 files, or about only 8% of what would have been scanned if allowed to complete, and then you stopped it after it and had it remove only one file.
Today when you allowed it to do a complete scan of 271,258 files it took about 2 hours and 40 minutes and it removed 34 infected files and registry listings.
By doing this in sort of a "piece meal" way then this could have allowed, I am not saying it did, but could have allowed one of these infections remaining to bring in more because it was not removed in these partial scans. The way to get the computer clean is to commit to getting it clean and continue through to the end. Yes, some of these scans take a long time but look at the number of files that must be checked, over 271,000 files. By only doing a partial scan with Windows Defender and the first time only scanning about 34,000 of these files that left 238,000 files unchecked. We know for sure that 35 of these were infected but what about the others which may have slipped through by starting and stopping these scans?
The other thing which could make it difficult for removal is you have at least 4 anti-spy programs running in the background all the time, Windows Defender, Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper, and Spybot. Having all of these running during clean up can interfere with cleaning. Some of them deter registry changes, good or bad. You should TURN these OFF while cleaning. Some programs like ESET Online scanner specifically say these should be turned off along with the onboard antivirus program and firewall during scanning and removal so that they will not interfere with either of these two things.
Now the completed MBA-M scan DID remove all of those O4 items I noted for fixing with HJT if they remained. I have to assume when you ran that HJT scan they were not present but these three DO remain showing in this latest HJT log;
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)

O16 - DPF: {1788DC78-908D-45E0-B512-11C637972B45} (AXConverter.AXControl) - http://www.elecard.com/AXConverter/A...rter_v.1.0.cab

O16 - DPF: {5D1E3FA5-64FF-4387-9418-F1D67AFB2247} (MaxisSuperstarTeleX Control) - http://thesims.ea.com/teleport/super...rstarTeleX.cab

Did you apply the requested fixes for these entries when you ran HJT? If you DID I need to know, this means the fix didn't work. If you did not please do so now and run HJT again.
For safety sake, to be certain that there are no remaining infections you should now run the following and please follow the instructions exactly and let the program run through to the end. If you cannot complete it now then wait until tomorrow when it can be completed in one setting. The main reason being, if you stop this particular program in the middle then it can do damage to the computer.

Download ComboFix
Click on the Save button and then when it asks you where to save it, make sure you save it directly to your Windows Desktop.
Once the download is complete you will see the Combofix on the desktop.

*Close all open Windows including this one.
* Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.
Doubleclick the combofix icon on the desktop to run the program.

Windows will issue a prompt asking whether you wish to run the program, click Run
You will then see a Disclaimer screen asking you to agree to the disclaimer. Press the number 1 key to accept the disclaimer.

Now just sit back and allow the program to run

Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report.
This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.

When all is complete then please post back here with that log.
Judy

Yeah i probably made the mistake of not finishing the scan but it was getting late and i needed to get my rest. Also, i was getting worried that pop ups were appearing and these things so i just ran those programs in order to get them remove asap. Also, i only have spysweeper that i use but since i saw that was not working, i tried other programs until spyware doctor detected the problem.

About the O15 and O16, i might have missed those but i will run HTJ again. You suggest to turn those spyware and anti-virus programs when i run HTJ and MBA-M scan, right?

And when i run the combofix, do i disable the windows firewall that comes in the security center, right? Just want to make sure.

You suggest to turn those spyware and anti-virus programs when i run HTJ and MBA-M scan, right?

You can leave them on with HiJackThis
Yes, turn off the Windows firewall also when doing combofix.

Here is the log from ComboFix.

Looks like combofix removed some more. I need to see a new HJT log with those fixes applied.

Looks ok, are you still having difficulty with pop ups? Is the computer running ok?
Judy

No, my computer is running normal now. Thanks for your help. Just one last question, which program do you recommend to get as an anti-virus? or is it ok with trend micro? what about an anti-spyware program?

Stay with the Trend Micro. Keep the MBA-M program and run it weekly at least, updating first of course.
I would add SpyBot S & D. But DO NOT use the TeaTimer portion of the program. Scroll down to the middle of the page and choose to download from the Safer-Networking server itself.

And the MUST have program is SpywareBlaster from Javacool
as it says on their website;

The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.

# Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.
# Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
# Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

and that is the truth.
I would also advise that you now set a new, clean restore point in System Restore.

Right click My Computer. Choose Properties.
When System Properties opens click the System Restore Tab.
Place a check mark in Turn Off System Restore. Click Ok.
You probably get and advisory that you are turning it off. Click ok.
It will then turn off.
Wait a moment then go back in there and take the check mark out. Click Ok.
This will turn System Restore back on.
