Hello all

Hope you can help me with a problem that has been driving me nuts for the past few days.

I have HP 2.8Ghz 1.5Gb RAM running XP SP2 on an active directory network

Recently I have noticed that opening up new explorer or internet explorer windows would result in a delay for about 30 seconds until the window appeared. During this freeze other open windows would lock up as well if I clicked on a link or directory. The machine exhibits this behaviour when logged in as a different user

The machine is fully patched. I have done a full virus and spyware sweep and dug up nothing. Whilst the machine is frozen there are no CPU spikes in task manager or anything out of the ordinary. No new software has been installed. Firefox does not exhibit this behaviour

I have tried rebooting in safe mode with networking and the symptoms still occur, however safe mode by itself works fine. This leads me to believe my computer is waiting on a network task or signal of some sort.

I have tried sfc /scannow but the problem persists. I would like to avoid a clean install

Please help!

trueblue,

I don't see anything obviously "nasty" in your log, but I do notice that you're running a slightly older version of HijackThis. The latest version is 1.99.1; just be on the safe side, please download that version (link is in my sig below) and post the log it generates.
