Hello all. I have a unknown icon flashing on and off in the taskbar whenever i open a new folder. The icon flashes on and off very fast. I managed to stop it by right-clicking on it however i have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. Anyone have a clue? I am running Xp SP2 and have ran Norton anti-virus several times but it finds nothing. Thanks!

Hi Bjoshvm, welcome to DaniWeb :D

Can you describe what the icon looks like?

Follow the recommendations in these threads to help protect, and start the cleanup process, of your system:

Download, install, update, and run these utilities:

After you've completed that, get the self-extracting version of HijackThis from here (in line 2):

Then, close any open browser windows, 'Scan and Save Log' with HijackThis, and then copy and paste the log here.

Hi again. The icon almost looks like a few (2) frames of film laying diagionally across a piece of wire or cable. It only pops on and off when i am opening a new windows explorer window. I have to go to work so I will run your suggestions when I return. Thanks. Good day!
