Hi there, I looked through some of the other threads and it looked like running hijackthis and generating a log for analysis was the procedure. Here is what I came up with, could someone please lend a hand.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Daniweb forums :).

--

Can you please do the following.

===============

Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1B85D3A6-ECC3-4218-BE7C-B7781AA11DC2} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8FA936A0-C52D-46F6-B6AA-0E2522B0F6A3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: {2f08791a-070d-917b-e0f4-5340fd3f9a49} - {94a9f3df-0435-4f0e-b719-d070a19780f2} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\eqspvpbv.dll

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - AutorunsDisabled - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: yayywwv - yayywwv.dll (file missing)

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\eqspvpbv.dll

-

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.

Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

-

Reboot.

===============

Download this file from one of the following links :

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/combofix.exe

1. Make sure that Combofix is downloaded to and run from, your desktop.

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, ComboFix generates a pop up log which can also be found at C:\ComboFix.txt. Post that log in your next reply, along with a new hijackthis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

commented: Good work.. +1

Error messeges asking for a file called REGT came up several times during the course of combofix's scan.

Also, my virus scanner came up with these on the most recent reboot following the combofix scan.

12/5/2007   10:05:07 PM Deleted     BILL1\Owner findstr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\vxbveorl.dll    Vundo (Trojan)
12/5/2007   10:05:09 PM Deleted     BILL1\Owner findstr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\xhjqcmwd.dll    Vundo (Trojan)
12/5/2007   10:05:10 PM Deleted     BILL1\Owner findstr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\pkauphey.dll

Sorry, for taking awhile to respond, I had a test to study for and hadn't been home much.

Thank you for the help.

Bill

Please go to Jotti's or to virustotal and have this file scanned. Post the results back here.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\sbp2port.sys

==

Open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the following text in the code box:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xhjqcmwd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pkauphey.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vxbveorl.dll

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

Referring to the image above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Post another hijackthis log too if the removal was successful.

Thank you,
Bill

Hi Bill. You need to do the Jotti scan again please as there is no result there. It should show a list of different AV's with the findings from each.
Will show 'Nothing Found' or 'Known Malware.'

I don't know why it says that at the top, it says something different when I copy compared to when I paste it.

Can I assume, by the lack of response that everything is clear?

Sorry Bill. I never got an email notification of your last response.
Everything looks good from here. How's thing's your end.

It is vastly improved but still seems to be running a bit on the slow side. That could just be my imagination thought. Here is a final Hijackthis log, if you see anything goofy please let me know.

Thank you very much for all of your help,
Bill

Still looks clear. Try giving it a defrag to see if things improve.

Yes, we know, thank you :). There is nothing equal to the human touch though.
