Cannot get into X windows GUI

I just finished installing Redhat 9 onto VMWare Workstation. I was able to install the VMWare tools but cannot seem to get into the x windows gui.

I try to type in startx but it returns with:
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Fatal server error:
no screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"

I then try redhat-config-xfree86 and it does give me a mouse so I can click on what resolution to set my display to. I tried the default of 800x600 with 24bit and also 32bit but always get the following:

/usr/share/redhat-config-xfree86/xconf.py:1238: DeprecationWarning:
self.xml.get_widget("display_dialog").set_uposition(xpos, ypos)

Either way, I cannot get into X windows GUI.

Please help.

Thanks!

You need to install the VMware tools for things to work correctly. If they still don't, let me know. There is an rpm (software package) that can also enhance the X experience.
