Most reputable (especially commercial) forums have link to peer sites. Why none here?

What about other languages & nations? OCAU often links to sites in Europe & East Asia, but rarely offers any full or partial translation of the non-English sites.
Most Linux distributions have varying link networks & failures. To gain better search engine ranking, the more links, the higher the ranking. I'm surprized that no persone here seems to know that.
Or are they like OCAU: fearful of SEO's? (OCAU does not allow SEO's into its most interesting parts.)
