When booting up, this message appears "The ALUNOTIFY.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453".
I click OK and things seem OK - although the system crashes often in spite of regular Scans and de-frags - bit it's Windows ME!
Can anybody help with an answer please?
Thanks,
Tez

When booting up, this message appears "The ALUNOTIFY.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453".

This means that the version of MFC42.DLL on your system is missing, corrupted, or incompatible with the Norton/Symantec software that you are running. It's not unusual for something you installed or updated to clobber system files. Try a search: http://www.symantec.com/search with "MFC42.DLL" as the search term, for starters.
