getting stuck in fdisk

Hi yall. Im new to the forums and really need some help.
I have fdisked and formatted this lap top before with no problems at all. It was running great for about 6 months. Then yesterday I turned it on and it ran a scan disk and at the end said " no operating system found". Nothing I did would get Win ME to come up. So... I was gonna start all over. This time I get to the page that says Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Verifying drive integrity, 0%complete. It has been on 0% for an hour. Does anyone know what is going on here? Thanks! :D

Find out what kind of Hard drive it is. It might have gone bad. The best thing to do is to use a 3rd party hard drive diagnostic program to check for S.M.A.R.T. errors ( If possible ) and any other error codes that might come up.
