I recently installed a Lexmark X5270 printer/scanner/copier. It works fine, but whenever I try and reboot, my computer will freeze on the screen that says "HP Invent". After troubleshooting, I unplugged the printer and rebooted, and it started up with no problem.

Obviously, I don't want to have to unplug my printer every time I reboot. What could be causing this?

Windows XP home ed.
HP a300n

By onplug do you mean the power cable or the USB cable ,

I guess I should have clarified. I'm referring to the USB cable (not the power cable).

I this were my computer this is what I would do .!
Uninstall the printer ,then I would
Right click on mycomputer go to properties/hardware/device manager /and uninstall everything in the +universal serial bus controllers !,then reboot and let windows reinstall the usb controllers ,then reinstall my printer .and any other usb devices that I have .
