I have a gateway ML6732 with vista , the laptop keeps asking for a hdd password which was never necessary , how can I get around this , can I flash the C_MOS or reset the C-MOS on the mother board somehow ?

you can check the bios / cmos settings for turning off the HDD password .
If it is not working then you can remove the cmos battery for 2-5 minutes ,,So that the cmos memory can reset....

I can't boot from CD, can't get to anything but the bios. This is one that in decades of messing around with computers, I've never encountered. Are we screwed? (It's actually a laptop that my work gave me, so I could just dump it on them, but I'd like to be able to fix it myself, if that's possible)
