Can someone recommend a good, free registry cleaner software for me? I've used one in the past but can't remember the name, but it was too aggressive and messed up my PC a bit. I think that's how I got my problem with not being able to access my Display Properties anymore.

I like Microsoft's Regclean. Here's a bunch to check out. Have fun :!: and keep system restore running ;)
A product that has worked really well for me is Stompsoft Registry Repair. It kept my registry clean of Windows debris and has nice bonus features that come in handy.
