I got this laptop for free from a friend, he says it doesn't work. He's right about that, the charger works fine, but when you plug it in the computer nothing happens at all. No lights or anything. I first thought it was the battery, but even with the battery removed and the cord in the computer it still does nothing. So I think its a problem with the motherboard. Any ideas? I heard it could be a quick soldering job but I have never soldered anything before. Not that im not willing to try. I don't want to spend any money really on this, so if I have to replace the motherboard or something I'm just going to ditch it.

Make a quick 20 to 30 bucks selling a working charger and a laptop for spares/repair.
The only thing worth trying is to carefully remove and reseat the RAM and the cable connections.
