hi! a friend of mine have acer one laptop, a idiot added a hdd password, so now he cant start his machine. how can we remove it?

HMM. there is an easy way and a hard way.

Hard Way: Open your laptop up take out the CMOS battery and Leave it out for a couple minutes.

There is a video on that page. to show you how to open it up. You will find the battery underneath the Motherboard it.

You can do this but you need a floppy drive:

Or the other method which I don't condone, you have to do it at your own risk:

Put your laptop in a ziplock bag and keep it in the freezer for 10 mins. The BIOS should reset. Once again I take no responsibility for this action keep this as a last resort.

you might also try working from the other way round! I have often had to crack passwords and one very good way is to try to get the confidence of the person who put the password on and then get them to produce a list of the passwords they often use and then try those. Often humans use regular passwords and going down this route may actually work faster!! It certainly has for me on quite a few occasions!
