Opearating system Windows2000. Internet explore 6.
I started having this problem one day after, I guess, runnig ad ware or
spy ware removal programs
When I start internet explorer, I see IEXPLORER.exe in the task manager but
no internet explorer window opens up. I then installed Internet Explorer 6 SP1.
But I am still having the same problem. I have done all the tricks that
I could find in the internet but no success so far. Meanwhile,
I am using Netscape without problem to get to the internet.

I'd appreciate any suggestion.

You could try a different browser such as firefox. (link in my signiture). as i am not sure why it would be doing this.

I've been struggling with this too... I assume you have WS_FTP installed. Go into WS_FTP and disable the browser integration. That should help :)

Once, I had WS_FTP installed . I removed sometime before. Thanks for suggestion any way.

There seem to be incompatibilities with Java 1.6u2

Try to empty the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Id>\Application Data\Sun.
