Simple XP UI needed

So my grandma wants to use computer. She wants just basic things, like playing dvd and cd, or musics and movies from the harddrive, maybe explore what's on it. I need a program which allows to do this simply, and mainly that is protected from erroneous input. I think something like my friend has on mac for when he wants to control it only through remote only with 4 arrows and an ok button.
The problem is that while she after a week understands what to do, she usually triggers states she can't recover from: Like when she doubleclicks slowly, and she triggers the rename, then she can't doubleclick. Or when she drags something instead of a click, and something starts up with a modal dialog which blocks input altogether. Also the mouse is pretty hard for her to use, so a keyboard only solution would be preferred.
