CPU running at 100%

i've have a HP Pavilion N3110 notebook
win 98 se
64 megs of pc100 ram(2x32meg sticks)

did a clean install of win98 se from the factory discs
only things running is
explorer
systray
rundll32
memzip <-- program i put on to show me mem and cpu usage
no adware or spyware on computer
no viruses on computer
tried both ram stick in the different slots then just one then the other
tried a different HD
tried putting win xp pro on it
reset the bios to factory setting
in safe mode the mouse pointer flashes or you just can't see it but it does run a little better
could the spu be shot ?
any ideas would be helpful thanks

the cpu runs at 100% all the time

Yoiks! You tried to run XP on 64M of RAM?! :eek: :eek:

Does memzip identify a particular program/process as being the source of the excessive resource usage? If so, please tell us what that process is.
