Combo drive cannot write cd-r but can write cd-rw

ok.. when writing cd-r, everything goes find but after it has been written, the disc is empty and nothing is written.

however, cd-rw works fine, no problem in writing cd-rws.

im using samsung combo drive sm348d

com is hp p4 2.6ghz 512 ram 80gb hd using win xp

tried maxell 48X cd-r but couldnt work.

Bad quality CD. Try one from Moser Baer or Sony. Try writing at 32x. Run a data verification after burning the CD. Also ensure that nero is set to "write" the CD and not "Simulate"

tried better quality discs but to no avail.. pls help tq!

Contact CS for your manufacturer. Most likely your drive is broken and needs repairs.
I had the same with 2 of my DVD writers before finally getting one that worked.
One wouldn't read or write DVDs, the other failed to write CDs (but could read them) but worked fine with DVDs.
