Hello,
I have an external hard drive as a back up to my computer. When I plug it in it appears for about 10 minutes and I can access it and then it disappears and it will not show back up.
Any help would be appreciated!

Did you check the USB cable connecting the HDD to your. Computer?

Hi Joe,
Yes, check the usb cable.
You could also try connecting it to another computer to see if it does the same there.
I would do the following in this order:
Try a different USB socket
Try on a different computer
Try a different cable
It could be that your external disk is over heating, the cable or the USB socket is faulty or it could be something on your system.
If you follow the basic steps as above we can start to find the cause, i.e. Hardware or Software.
