Microsoft Word Dictionary Problem

Has anyone experienced the problem of the default dictionary suddenly changing itself for no reason at all in Microsoft Word 2000 ? The default dictionary has been set as English (UK), user creates a number of documents only to find the dictionary then changes to English (US). Is there anyone out there which has experienced this problem.

The language is embedded in the text so if you have used copy and paste from US site the spell checker will use english(US) to check it. Bloody stupid if you ask me. I don't know how to disable it and make it do it all in proper english

I didn't realize that English (US) isn't proper English. Get over yourself UK...you lost.
