Stimon error on start up

The past week or so, whenever I start my computer I get an error that says Stimon--this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Otherwise, my computer seems to be working ok, but I thought there has to be a reason it's doing that. I am running Windows 98 on a HP Pavilion. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Stimon.exe Application that provides one-touch scanning for a scanner=
,and it auto starts with windows .if you don't have a scanner install you could disable it in ,Start/run/msconfig/startup and uncheck the reference to Stimon.
not sure why it having a problem ,you could try system file checker to check for corrupt or missing system files .
To do so with the win98 cd in the cdrom ,go to Start/run /type in SFC and start the scan .

I do have a scanner...actually a scanner/printer/copier all in one. Tomorrow I will try using my disc (it is the back up disc that came with my computer that you are referring to, right? :) ), and see if that fixes it. Thanks. :)
