another problem caused by me buying new stuff...
last weekend i bought GTA: San Andreas for my PC after digging out my old copy of GTAIII and finding it works well on my new PC.
anyway i noticed something strange when i started the install. instead of the game name, '%P' was shown. going through the wizard, the default install location doesn't work, and when i try to install, only a few files are copied (not in the right place) and the folder i specified isn't created.
i have tried the game on another PC (albeit with the same DVD drive) and it works fine (shame the PC can't actually play the game) i have spoken to people who know about this game, and they don't know why it happens, but they say i'm probably looking at a repair or upgrade install of windows. i don't really want to do this as i can never be sure if it will still work afterwards (i have a bad history with resinstalls:$)
i've tried updating the installshield 10.5 engine and installed windows installed 3.1, but neither of these have helped. i've also disabled most processes that are running, but this hasn't helped either.
