Windows Update in Windows 7 Ultimate Not Working

Windows Update in Windows 7 Ultimate Not Working. It just keeps showing "Checking for updates" msg! Please help! I need to update/install mxml and .Net files in order install new software programs. THANK YOU!

control panel ->windows update set to auto

thanks, but it had another error- mxml and .net related- so fixed windows modules installer and the rest fell in place!

control panel ->windows update set to auto
maybe this helps

thanks caperjack! it wasnt allowing me to install .NET due to Windows Modules Installer error about the registry limit. Fixed it and back on track!

try direct download for msg and net files updates !!
