The above named machine shows both local network and the internet are connected under the network sharing center menu but when i try and open Firefox or IE8 it does not connect at all! I tried clearing the cache, cookies but to no avail. i also tried system restore as well as disabling and re-enabling the net. adapter, i turned off the data execution prevention it still does not work. please help as i am now losing hope!! thank you in advance guys.

hold the windows key and press r.
type: inetcpl.cpl
in the internet properties box, click Reset.
From the command prompt, do: ipconfig /flushdns
