Hi all,
I am unable to reach a particular website from my home computer. But its easily accessible from office computer. I have cleared the cache in the browser, tried to flush the dns cache using ipconfig /flushdns. Nothing helps. Ping / tracert says - "Request timed out". Any pointers? Thanks in advance.

i know a great practical joke to pull by overriding the DNS if i have logon to your computer. so when you go to your favorite site it will take you to the site you hate.
ha ..seriously though how long this been going on?

Maybe your firewall or other settings are blocking you from accessing that website.

I have been trying the website from 1week and since then i have this problem. I'm trying to access a bank's website for internet banking.

I have checked the firewall settings too. In fact, once I tried to access it after disabling the firewall, still it dint help!

would you paste the output of this here so we can check it?
C:\Users\youruser>ipconfig /all

you should uninstall all of your network adapters from device manager, then right-click any device, and choose 'scan for hardware changes' and the adapters should be detected and drivers auto-installed. you will have to re-enter your wifi network settings.

Your registry might be blocking the website. Go to your registry and type the web address of the banking site. You might want to clear all your browser data including cookies and cache files.

No, i am not able to enter through the IP address also. (http://<IP>)
Ping also doesnt seem to respond -

C:\Users\SAHANA>ping 210.210.18.57

Pinging 210.210.18.57 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 210.210.18.57:
Packets: Sent = 1, Received = 0, Lost = 1 (100% loss),

@jingda: Can you please tell me how to add the website in the registry?

i assume all other sites are working, then? check content tab of internet options, disable content advisor if it is enabled.
what does say when you cannot connect?
check C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts (open with notepad)
if you see your website listed on this file, delete it

Yes, skilly. All other sites are working. Content-advisor is disabled by default.
Hots file does not have the website. It reads -

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

type IP address& http address as shown in example in next line of file and save. this is that joke about bypassing external dns

For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
#210.210.18.57 www.onlinesbm.com

but remove #sign, save, you may have to take ownership to save changes to the file(it's not normal)
