Hello, I have started picking up on encrytion, and I seem to have an error when I run the program. Here is the error:

there are multiple errors in your program.
1) Spelling mistake while calling Cipher.getInstance() method in encrypt().It must be DES not ES
2) Cipher initailisation missing in encrypt() method.
3) Change in decrpty method .It is ECB not EGB .Cipher cipher = Cipher.getInstance("DES/ECB/PKCS5Padding");
4) static methods must be called directly by class name not by objects.(eg: Base64Coder.encodeLines())
5) call decodeLines() method in your decrypt() method instead of decode() as you have encrypted it by using encodeLines() method.

 public String encrypt(String message) throws IllegalBlockSizeException, NoSuchAlgorithmException, NoSuchPaddingException, UnsupportedEncodingException, BadPaddingException, InvalidKeyException{
      //Spelling mistake here.It must be DES not ES
        Cipher ci = Cipher.getInstance("DES/ECB/PKCS5Padding");
//Error
        ci.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, k);
        byte[] stringBytes = message.getBytes("UTF8");
   byte[] raw = ci.doFinal(stringBytes);

    Base64Coder co = new Base64Coder();
    String base64 =Base64Coder.encodeLines(raw);//encodeLines() must be called in static way by classname not with object as it is static method
    return base64;

    }

  public String decrypt(String message){
        try{
                Cipher cipher = Cipher.getInstance("DES/ECB/PKCS5Padding"); //Change EGB to ECB
            cipher.init(Cipher.DECRYPT_MODE, k);
            Base64Coder decoder = new Base64Coder();

                byte[] raw = Base64Coder.decodeLines(message); //use method decodeLines() instead of decode as you have used encodeLines() for encoding.Also use it in static way.
            byte[] stringBytes = cipher.doFinal(raw);
            String clear = new String(stringBytes, "UTF8");
            return clear;
        }catch(Exception evt){
            return "";
        }
    }

Thank you so much for the help, now I get it.
