Problems with PHP and CSS in IE 6.0

Hi guys -

FNG here, and I got a little problem I'm hoping someone can help me understand. Uh, OK, it's actually a big problem.

I have built, along with a friend who handles the PHP end for me, a website that draws on a database to "translate" itself into different languages.

I'm having a problem with the site in IE 6. For some reason the pages ignore SOME of the CSS styles, but not all of them. The result is that text is appearing much larger than it should in IE and it's blowing up the layout. In Firefox, the site looks fine. And, what stumps me further is that the site in plain HTML looks fine in either browser.

Why?? Drivin' me nuts over here... and my deadline is coming...

I should mention that as of right now this site and its information is not for public consumption and I'm even a little leery about sharing it here. However, I need some insight on this and I can't do that without sharing the site.

What is the difference between your first link and the "bare-html" version? Is the first generated by a PHP script and the other is just an .html file?

Comparing the page source from both side by side, the only difference I can see is spacing. Sorry, I honestly have no idea.

What is the difference between your first link and the "bare-html" version? Is the first generated by a PHP script and the other is just an .html file?

Yes - in the home.earthlink... link (the second one), there is no PHP functionality at all. Bare bones HTML. The language switching and all that is just a form that is a dead end.

The www.enduris-.... link has the PHP behind it to switch the language to French and also to switch logos in the upper right corner.

I see what you're saying... perhaps it will help to just post the code from index.php as I have it here on my hard drive. I am just the "look and feel" guy, unfortunately - PHP is not my thing. The PHP commands are definitely included in this, though:

Figured it out.

If you look at the code posted above, the problem IE is having _appears_ to come from this not being the first line of code:

"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">"

Someone had suggested that it might be a doctype issue, but since I had declared a valid doctype I assumed that wasnt the problem.
