I am trying to update a website after I uploaded the updated source files codes to the ftp site. When I try to access the site I get the following: "Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>"

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem. So the website can be viewed.

was the update related to asp.net ajax?

The reason for the error cannot be identified based on the error message. Set the 'mode' attribute of customErrors tag to off. It will display some detailed error message. Post that message to identify the issue.

Yes the update was with asp.net ajax code.

Ok so then you have to add to the bin folder in your project two dll files System.Web.Extensions.Design.dll and System.Web.Extensions.dll you can find these files under this path usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions\v1.0.61025 hope that help you.

I added those two dll files to the bin folder but I am still getting an error when trying to display the site.

Hi, try to add this row in the web.config <identity impersonate="true"/>

Are you uploading your web site to a shared server?

It seems that the server admin have set IIS/Asp.Net to disable the ability at the individual websites level to change this setting.

You better contact your server administrator to enable this setting at your site level.

My files are being uploaded using GoDaddy FTP client to get the files to the server. Do I need to check with them on this issue.

Yes. you need to check with your server administrator regarding the locked access to the <location> section.
