works in IE not in Firefox

Hi,

I have a web site written in html/php. I can view the site in Internet Explorer just fine. But I have problem in firefox. When i view in FF, site is a mess. Columns shift left to middle, overlapping, much more.

Pls advise.

Probably there is a problem with your code, can you post it? Also, check it with the w3c validators.

This sounds like a HTML/CSS issue, rather than PHP. You might get a better response in the HTML/CSS forum. But as Twiss said, if you post your code, please can have a look.

If you have a publicly accessible link, that could be helpful too.

You appear to have an awful lot of errors and deprecated attributes littered throughout your code.

I'll start proceedings with a few pointers and let other people contribute too.
1) You're missing the opening <html> tag to match your closing tag;
2) Your CSS height and width declarations are missing the units suffix, e.g. 12px;
3) Some CSS attributes are incomplete;

You look to have started to use CSS, by adding classes and ids to your attributes, but then proceeded to use inline styles??

Also, with development, consistency and properly indenting your code can seriously help with find problems.

when you send code, wrap it [code=html] [/code] tags
it makes it easier to read, and shows you where your errors are by code highlighting

also get a code highlighting editor, harder to make mistakes when bits of code turn RED when you miss things, what ever you are using to write this stuff is killing you, a good editor will not allow the uppercase tag names, will warn you for forgotten closures, will warn for quaotes, bloody marvellous

tables are a part of the problem, ie puts margins on the outside, firefox puts margins on the inside or vice versa I cant remember because havent used tables for layout this century align=right fails, should be align='right' , everything with an equal sign should have quotes or dquotes
& the always present, get the styles out into a stylesheet

.. in all browser OS combinations

not all layouts work in handheld devices
strictly code based, you understand your content more than I would

0 is valid 0px=0pt=0cm=0in=0em=0littleFuzzyThings===0 , 1px<>1pt<>1cm<>1em<>1in, any non zero measurement needs to know what it measures
